About the Bourbon area of Madrid.

If you choose this guided tour of Madrid of the Bourbons, you will find yourself on one of the most beautiful walks in Madrid. During this tour you will discover many aspects of the Bourbon dynasty as you have never been told before. This is not just a change of the Royal House, but rather an administrative and architectural reform, the purpose of which is to improve the presence of the capital and the kingdom.

Mainly, the figure of the first Bourbons will be explored, that is, Philip V, Fernando VI (the forgotten king) or Charles III (the backbone of this visit) or Fernando VII.

But to this cast of monarchs, we must add a series of queens consort who also left their mark, be it Isabel de Farnesio, María Isabel de Braganza or Bárbara de Braganza. All of them were indisputable creators of this Royal House.

Nor should we forget the extraordinary list of architects without whom Madrid would not look the way it does today.

Francisco Sabatini, Ventura Rodríguez and Juan de Villanueva are just a few examples of the large number of artists who worked in the capital.

If you want to know all this in detail and much more, do not hesitate to come and enjoy this tour. You will do it accompanied by a historian guide.

During the visit, we will see the following places among others:
    • Puerta del Sol. The tour starts at Puerta del Sol, next to the statue of Charles III. Do you know the origins of the Spanish lottery and which king brought it to Spain? Do you know the story behind Madrid’s most famous clock?
    • Customs House and Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. Did you know that the RABASF houses some essential works by the Aragonese master Francisco de Goya?
    • Plaza de Cibeles. The Cibeles fountain: Much more than a football symbol.
    • The Puerta de Alcalá. A gate or a Roman triumphal arch?
    • Paseo del Prado. Mythology and Symbolism in its purest form! From the Cibeles fountain, passing by the Apollo fountain, to the Neptune fountain, there is a whole meaning and intention.
    • Prado Museum. A Natural Sciences Cabinet converted into one of the most important art galleries in the world. But, beware! It was on the verge of not being one due to the outbreak of the Civil War.
    • Royal Botanical Garden. A true Eden of world flora on the Paseo del Prado. But…there was already a Royal Botanical Garden. Where? You will have to come and discover it.

Come and enjoy Tour Time, you won’t regret it.
